About Yanbu's Climate

Yanbu is a Red Sea port on Saudi Arabia's west coast, and it enjoys a slightly easier coastal desert climate than Jeddah thanks to almost constant north-westerly winds. Summers are hot: July and August daytime highs climb around 40°C (104°F), nights stay warm because of the sea's thermal influence, but humidity tends to run a little lower than in Jeddah. Winters are mild and genuinely pleasant; January ranges from roughly 14°C at dawn to 24°C in the afternoon, with cool evenings perfect for the Corniche and the marina. Rainfall is very limited — under about 40 mm a year — arriving as brief showers between November and March. The steady breeze makes Yanbu one of the Kingdom's favourite destinations for sailing and windsurfing. The sweet spot for diving on the fringing reefs and other water sports runs October through April, with underwater visibility staying strong through spring. Practical tip: bring high-SPF sunscreen — the cooling effect of the sea breeze often delays how fast you realise you're burning.
