About Jeddah's Climate
Jeddah is the Kingdom's main Red Sea port, and its climate reflects that coastal setting — hot desert conditions softened, but also made stickier, by an almost constant sea breeze. From May through October, daytime highs commonly sit between 35°C and 40°C (95–104°F), and humidity often climbs above 75 percent overnight, making the heat feel heavier than the thermometer suggests. Winters stay mild, with January averages rarely dipping below 20°C. Rainfall is light and concentrated between November and February, but when it arrives it can fall in sharp bursts that flood low-lying neighbourhoods within minutes. Dust storms are less frequent than in the interior, though salt mist along the Corniche at dawn is a familiar sight. The most comfortable stretch for outdoor activity — including Corniche walks and Red Sea excursions — runs December through March. Practical tip: avoid extended midday activity in summer, and check street drainage reports before driving on rainy winter nights.
