About Tabuk's Climate

Tabuk lies in Saudi Arabia's far north-west at roughly 770 metres elevation, close to the northern Hijaz mountains — and the altitude gives it the Kingdom's coldest winters. From December through February, nights can drop below freezing, while nearby mountain villages and peaks such as Jabal al-Lawz occasionally catch a light dusting of snow. Winter days remain sunny but cool, averaging around 18°C (64°F). Summers are hot and very dry; July and August highs settle near 38–40°C, but the arid air lets night temperatures fall comfortably. Annual rainfall is low and scattered, and dust storms kick up mainly in spring on northerly winds. The best window for mountain hiking and desert driving runs October through April. Practical tip: if you're heading to NEOM territory or Jabal al-Lawz between December and February, pack proper layers — pre-dawn temperatures genuinely flirt with zero, something travellers expecting a uniformly hot Saudi Arabia often miss.
