About Buraidah's Climate
Buraidah is the capital of the Qassim region, sitting on Saudi Arabia's central plateau amid a belt of date-palm oases. Its climate is continental desert, with a pronounced gap between seasons. Summers are long, dry and severe: July and August daytime highs push past 45°C (113°F), though low humidity keeps the heat drier and slightly less draining than on the Gulf. Winters are noticeably cooler than most of the country — January ranges from around 10°C overnight to about 20°C in the afternoon, and surrounding desert can briefly touch freezing at dawn. Rainfall is scarce and irregular, concentrated between November and April with a spring peak and an annual total under roughly 150 mm; even so, it's enough for a brief bloom across the plains. Dust storms are common in spring on northerly winds. The best visiting window is November through March, matching the Qassim date and kleeja festivals. Practical tip: carry dust-rated eyewear for spring desert drives, and enjoy the rare cool winter dawns by heading out just before sunrise.
