About Al Jubail's Climate

Al Jubail is one of the world's largest industrial cities, perched on Saudi Arabia's Gulf coast north of Dammam, and its climate is unmistakably hot, humid coastal desert. From June through September, daytime highs climb to around 42°C (108°F), pre-dawn humidity routinely passes 80 percent, and the real-feel index turns oppressive — particularly in neighbourhoods close to the waterfront. Winters are mild and surprisingly pleasant; January daytime averages sit near 19°C with genuinely cool nights. The early-summer shamal blows between June and July, pushing dust in from the northern deserts and sometimes cutting visibility for hours at a stretch. Rainfall is minimal, under roughly 100 mm a year, concentrated in winter. The best window for the Corniche, family parks and outdoor events runs November through March. Practical tip: on heavy-dust days, stay clear of open industrial zones and favour filtered indoor venues, and shift summer plans to evening hours — midday remains uncomfortable even in shaded outdoor cafés.
